I haven’t posted for a few days, very bad me. This weekend was quite entertaining. I went up on Saturday to school Penny and didn’t bother lunging her beforehand, very bad idea. She decided that the hedge at the far end of the school contained some kind of monster that wanted to eat her, snorted for the first 6 times we went past and then decided to rear and try and take off across the school! I carried on working her and made sure that she didn’t get away with it so hopefully we’ve nipped that habit in the bud. But all in all we had 4 rears during that session! Very naughty little madam.
I didn’t ride on Sunday and Monday as the weather was absolutely appalling and I think it would have just be asking for trouble. Went up this evening as I spent most of this afternoon devising a training plan for her so I have now got every day for the next 10 weeks planned out. I’ve had her about 3 weeks now so have a pretty good idea on where she needs more work and how fit she is. So Tuesday are 30 mins on the lunge which to start with is mainly trotting and 10 mins canter but we only did about 5 today as she was puffing a bit. Very unfit girly. At one point she stopped and turned toward me with a ‘please Mummy, I’m tired now’ look on her face, it was so cute I couldn’t stop laughing. I then moved and the end of the lunge whip moved on the ground so that had to be snorted at for about 2 minutes. She’s so cute.
Other than the horsey side of my life things are pretty good. The weather her lately has been disgusting and I actually made the decision not to cycle to work today which I think was very good as I would have got soaked. Tomorrow is meant to be rain and 40mph winds so I will not be riding. Wednesday’s are our day off anyway so that works out quite well. It should be nice again by the weekend.
Lorna, my youngest sister, has booked tickets to come and visit in two weeks with her friend, Jenny, so I’ve got the week off work. That should be fun. I only just realised that its Easter the weekend she arrives as well so it’ll be a little holiday.
The kittens are also growing at an insane rate and I noticed today that the little boy’s eye is just starting to open at the corner. Can’t wait till they’re moving around a bit more, they’ll be so cute. I did also notice that they have somehow got fleas which I really cannot fathom as neither of our cats leave the house. So this weekend we’ll get going to try and find some special kitten flea treatment and the big two will be getting a bath with flea shampoo…. its like a military operation when they get a bath. Will post more pics soon.

Ah, I wish I could be so organized and planned out. How smart you are to figure all that out. Hope Penny’s mouth is doing well. Can’t wait to see kitten pix. Stay dry!

Aww
I thought you were coming to the UK for Easter, I just sent you an email about it! Also on your lunging point, please, please, please don’t lunge your young horse for 30 minutes, since your only supposed to lunge for 20 mins max for a fit horse it’s really not fair to ask her to do 30 minutes under any circumstances plus she’ll probably end up with a thoropin to boot!
Yeah, after actually working her yesterday realised that 30 mins was maybe a bit of a stretch :S Re-assessing whole training schedule now as am only doing 10-15 mins lunging about twice a week. Would try long lining again but would rather do that with someone else there as the first time I tried it on my own she freaked out…. apparently lines down your sides are increadibly scary!
