Edinburgh!! Part 1

I am now back in the country after a fantastic few days in Scotland.  Please bear with me as this post could be another of my epic ones.  I really should get into the habit of posting more often so that you don’t have walls of text to read.

So, on Thursday I spent the majority of the day packing.  I did realise that half the stuff I was taking I probably wouldn’t use but needed to take it ‘just in case’.  My big pink suitcase ready I headed out of the door to get the train…. which was then late!!  By the time I got to Schiphol I was in a panic that I would miss check-in and of course my check-in gate was the furthest one away.  Finally got there heaving the mammoth suitcase with me and there were no queues so check-in was easy.  In fact their were hardly any people about at all, it was very strange and a bit of a ghost town.

One nice easy flight later and I landed in Edinburgh (with a bounce!) and headed out to try and spot Kirsten.  Her car is so cute (a Smart car) and I immediately knew it was hers from the fact that the bottom was all dirty (another horsey girl and dirty cars are a bit of a trademark there) and then made her jump by tapping on the window, hehe.  I have to say, I was impressed with the amount of room in it.

Then once home I got the grand tour of Kirsten’s new house.  Its so nice (makes me feel ashamed of the state ours is), a little one bed bungalow but every room is a really decent size AND there is a walk in closet.  Very very envious.  I also met Freckles the rabbit who is so so cute and of course forgot to take photos because… well because I’m me!!  We then sat and talked for goodness knows how long before crashing out.

Friday Kirsten had a mock exam in Glasgow so we headed through nice and early and I went shopping while Kirsten sat her exam.  I definitely think I got the better end of the bargain here.  I got attacked viciously by both a Lush AND a Waterstones.  It was a horrific attack and left my bank card thoroughly shaken.  I however felt much better after sitting down with a coffee and a new Iain Banks (The Steep Approach to Garbadale) and had me laughing outloud within about 3 pages.  So looking forward to the rest of it.

The me and Kirsten went for our customary Pizza Hut lunch (I can’t go to Pizza Hut with anyone else as it would feel like cheating) and made ourselves feel thoroughly fat.  For once the service was fantastic, I think we got lucky but the girl was lovely.  And then we continued to do more shopping!!!  Number one on my list was to get a dress for the Christening next month and I ended up with a gorgeous strapless black dress with a salmon pink belt strap and a messy ruffly hem.  Hopefully it will stand up to carrying a baby too.  Now I just need some new shoes to match and I’m sorted.  I also bought a new skirt from one of the rock shops (oh how I miss them) so all in all a very successful shopping day.
